We hope everyone is ready for new features, because many are on the way! Here are some features that are currently in the works:

Search faster! We’ve just had a large server upgrade which will make your search even faster than before!

We also patched up a small issue with this pop-up box appearing each time you come to your homepage. This box will no longer appear each time you open your homepage. As long as you click the [x] in the corner, you will only see this news box when a big update is made and/or a new feature is upcoming and released!

We’ve just added even more fun to your homepage! You can now add Youtube videos, Flash Toys, and other flash widgets to your page! Adding a youtube video is easy. Simply view the video of your choice, click the <Embed> button and copy the embed code in the text field displayed.

Navigate to the “Flash” tab in the skin builder, give the flash a name (such as “Youtube Video”), paste the video’s embed code, and click “Add flash”.

If you’re looking to add other flash toys such as post-it notes, clocks, flash games, etc., first find a site the provides them (such as FreeCodeSource.com), copy the embed code provided, and follow the same steps as if you we’re adding a youtube video.

Having fun customizing your own skins? Trying to share your creations? Submit your own customized skins to the gallery now! User Submitted category features all the approved skins that were publicly submitted! Think you have what it takes to have your skin displayed on the front page? Submit yours today!

Don’t know how to submit your skins? Login to your account and click ‘My Skins’. Hover over the skin you want to submit and click on the Configure skin button. From there, you can ‘publish’ your skin to the gallery and await approval.

We were doing upgrades earlier today which may have caused your skin not to show up for a couple of hours. These upgrades helped to improve the site speeds and allows us to add cool new features. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

We’ve just got done releasing a bunch of new features!

Ability to Move the Skin Builder
First, our most requested feature, you can now move the skin builder around on your page when customizing.  No longer will the skin builder get in the way when adding images and text.
To move the skin builder, click the top bar and drag it where you want.

Save Your Skins to “My Skins”
If you’re a registered user, you can now start saving every skin you create with the skin builder and/or choose from our skin gallery!  This is useful if you decide you want to create a skin and use it later, or if you want to go back and use a skin you’ve used in the past.
To save your skins, either navigate to Customize Page > My Skins and click “Save My Current Skin”, or open the skin builder and check the box next to “Save skin to My Skins”.  You should be prompted with a box to name the skin.

Submit Your Skins to the StartSkin’s Skin Gallery
If you’ve just created an amazing skin and want it displayed in the skin gallery for others to use, now you can!  Simply go to your “My Skins” area, then click the configure skin icon.

Once in the configure skin area, enter a few tags/keywords (separated by commas), then click the publish link.  Your skin will then need to be approved by an admin.

You guys asked for it, we’ve added it.  You can now put text anywhere on your skin and customize it the way you want!

To get started, click “Customize Page” (top right), then “Skin Builder” (last icon).  Once in the skin builder, click the “Text” tab.

Enter your text, then click the “Add text” button to add it to your page.

To change the color, size, and font-family of the text, click on the text and a new section should appear on the “Add text” window.

To reposition the text on your skin, click and drag it to where you want it displayed.

We’ve just added the ability to become a member of StartSkins.  As a member, you gain access to extra features such as:
-Access your StartSkins page from any computer
-Upload unlimited pictures
-Control privacy settings
-StartSkins URL retrieval
-Create and share your skins with the world (coming soon)
-Save multiple skins to your personal gallery (coming soon)

If you share your computer or StartSkins URL with other people, privacy settings will help control what these people can see and edit.

To become a member, click the “Login” or “Privacy Settings” link at the bottom right of your page, then click “Register”.
